Joel Smith, Physical Therapist, Clinical Manager
Joel obtained his bachelor of science from the School of Kinesicology at the University of Michigan in1995. He graduated from Temple University in 2000 with a Masters of Physical Therapy degree. He chose the field of physical therapy because of the unique and individualized hands on care it allow you to provide to patients. When not working as a therapist, Joel enjoys his time with his family, and exploring the waters and woods of beautiful northern Michigan.
Cathy Ingalls, Physical Therapist, DPT, GCS, CEEAA
Cathy is originally from Petoskey and graduated from Central Michigan University with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Geriatrics Physical Therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association. Cathy has over p years of experience as a physical therapist treating patients with various musculoskeletal dysfunction including total joint replacement, rotator cuff repair, neck and back pain. In addition, Cathy specializes in rehabilitation of balance deficits. She has completed extensive work in the identification and management of clients with balance deficits and developed our Frail 2 Fit Balance Rehabilitation Program. Cathy enjoys biking, cross country skiing, backpacking, running and practicing yoga in her free time.
Jordan McConnell, PT, DPT
Jordan joined the Sports Med family in June 2017, after finishing a clinical internship with us in the fall of 2016. He earned his Bachelor of Exercise Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degrees from Central Michigan University. Jordan brings with him a fresh look on treatment care and the patients really enjoy working with him. He is originally from Claire, MI and moved to Petoskey in the summer of 2016. As an avid sportsman, Jordan enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, skiing and biking with his wife, Kelsey.
Candie Ritchie, Physical Therapist Assisant
Candie recentlygraduated from the Physical Therapy Assistant Program at Macomb Community College. She joined the National Guard at seventeen and served for two years. She moved to Central Lake 8 years ago and lives with her boyfriend and their 2 children. In what little spare time she has, she enjoys reading, scrap booking, andintroducing her children to the outdoors.
Steve Morris, Physical Therapy Aide
Steve is a native of Petoskey Michigan. He earned an Associated Degree from NCMC and a Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science from GVSU (he loves muscles and joints).Steve completed an internship at NMSM in Charlevoix last summer, and loved every minute of it! When he is not in the clinic, Steve enjoys exercising, biking, hiking, traveling and exploring new places. Winter is his favorite season, but also enjoys the sunshine.
Cortney Caverly, Physical Therapy Aide
Cortney joined the Sports Med family in February 2017 and is a native of beautiful Boyne City. She graduated from Boyne High School and earned an Associate degree from North Central Michigan College. In January 2018 she will be attending Grand Valley State University to complete her bachelors and masters in Occupational Therapy. Cortney’s bright personality brings cheer to all the patients. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, kayaking, camping, traveling, and spending time with friends.
Deanne Jackson, Front Desk Manager
Deanne joined NMSM in 2014 as our Patient Representative. Her hometown roots are from Midland, Michigan where she graduated from Northwood University, completing her BBA in Marketing/Management. Deanne’s journey north allowed her to work for Boyne USA Resorts for 10 years, and several years with Ganz as a Territory Sales manager. She raised her 3 children; Tom, Dean and Meredith, in beautiful Boyne City. Her passions continue in skiing, flying, and spending time in the out of doors.
